| What accessories do you wear everyday?
Watch. Silver hoop earrings. In the winter I wear a scarf every day, and on the coldest days I wear my hat, even inside. It's a plain black fleece hat and it goes with everything. I am not big on a lot of flair.
B: What is your beauty routine?
Take a shower, moisturize appendages with that Aveeno stuff (I save the Weleda Skin Food for my elbows and hands and feet, which get super super dry), do face with some stuff from Body Shop, scent with several different oils from Body Shop (lately). Makeup is always black eyeliner (tip lash line only), mascara, and Body Shop lip pencil in a deep pinky-browny-red. I'm pretty low-maintenance and can be "ready", including shower, in about 20 minutes. I wash my hair twice a week because it's quite long and v thick and takes two days to dry anyway.
C: What was the last item of clothing (for yourself) that you purchased?
I got some excellent Gap jeans at the thrift. I just got my Frye boots resoled and reheeled, so... new to me again!
D: Do you use a dresser, closet, or both?
I have a weird clothing storage situation right now. I have a closet, a big bin, and a huge ancient chicken egg incubator thing. It's totally awesome. Pictures don't do it justice. It's perfect for storing clothes, though.
E: What type of earrings are in your ears right now? Small silver hoops. I really don't like earrings.
F: What type of figure do you have (measurements)?
I'm about 5'11" and have very broad shoulders, long arms, and long legs. Statuesque.
G: Do you wear glasses?
No, but I probably need them. I am now 40 and squint a lot.
H: What type of handbag do you carry?
Tiny little bag, brown.
I: What is your ideal style?
Belle de Jour meets indie rock librarian meets Jil Sander suited MILF?
J: What is your favorite brand of jeans?
Levi's 501s.
K: Do you wear knee-hi stockings?
Knee high socks, yes. Preferably wool, with loud stripes.
L: Do you *have* to wear matching lingerie?
Nope. Someday, maybe.
M: Do you wear makeup?
Yes, but not much.
N: Do you wear nightgowns?
Nope. Yoga pants and tank tops, mostly.
O: What outerwear do you put on when going out on a typical winters day?
Land's End jacket or leather trench, depending on where I'm going. Hat. Gloves. Scarf.
P: What is your favorite perfume?
I wear a mix of Body Shop stuff or a mix of essential oils. I have always deeply loved most of the Chanel scents, esp Coco.
Q: Is your motto "quality over quantity" when it comes to clothing and accessories?
I can get quality AND quantity on a good thrifting day. I tend to buy decent shoes (Frye, Dansko).
R: Do you wear rain boots?
No, but I really wanted a pair for those rainy Saturdays managing the Market. Next season!
S: Do you wear socks or slippers when your feet get cold?
I really want new slippers. Something like this would be OK:
http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7429054/color/1680
T: Do you have a set of travel luggage?
No. Just a suitcase.
U: What is your daily uniform?
Black pants, t-shirt, cardigan or V neck, black shoes/boots at work. Occasionally a skirt. A jacket if the occasion calls for it. Jeans (or cutoffs) and T shirt at home.
V: If you are married, did you wear a veil with your wedding dress? If not, how did you do your hair?
No veil. I had a massive amount of hair at the time and I went somewhere to have it braided and flowered up.
W: Do you wear a watch?
I wear the cheap black digital when i'm outside or working the Market, and the groovy orange watch to work or when I go out.
X: What item of clothing always makes you feel beautiful?
A really good sexy/serviceable dress. I have a black shift that fits this bill, but I need to take it to someone to get it worked on.
Y: What is your favorite type of yarn?
The kind Jeanne spins.
Z: Do you prefer zippers or buttons?
Buttons. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |

| Oh, October Surprise!
It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.
But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.

Any suggestions? | comments: Leave a comment |

| I wish I could have gone to the Led Zeppelin show in London last night:
Thanking all the people who had come from more than 50 countries, Plant declared, "This is the 51st country" and commenced "Kashmir," which was the song most Led Zeppelin fans said they wanted to hear in a music magazine poll. It left the singer in tears and the audience, which had been long on its feet, hollering for more.
Back onstage, the encore inevitably took the form of "Whole Lotta Love." At the end, Plant saluted Ertegun and Atlantic Records and said good night. It looked like it was all over, but then, Led Zeppelin burst back for a resounding version of "Rock and Roll," leaving the packed house celebrating the extraordinarily good fortune that allowed them to witness it.

| A friend had the following questions for me:
"1. what are the popular hip parenting blogs or websites? and feminist mom sites?
2. as the mom of a tween-- is there a girls magazine/media that isn't say, "teenvogue" or "disney radio"?"
I'm so out of it, I have no idea how to respond.

| Got a farmers market near you?
Do you go?
In comments, those of you who want to respond, please do so and let me know where yr from, if the market has a website, etc. Tell me what kinds of things are sold, how often the market takes place, what kinds of rules they have about selling (organic only? Does the food have to be from a certain number of miles away?). Is there food at yr market from local restaurants? Do you love yr market? Why? Do you hate it? Why? My inquiring mind wants to know!
Ms. Research thanks yew, and yew, and yew too for yr responses. | comments: 23 comments or Leave a comment |
